Band Biography
PHEROMONES alternative pop
"Pheromones" is the scientific name for the chemicals with which various animals and insects communicate through smell. The alternative pop band of the same name do something similar with their eclectic music, dealing with themes like sex, drugs, love and death in the form of original and melodic songwriting. The band members - multitalented english frontman Neil Filby, piano playing punkjazz legend Chrischi Weber, rocksolid bassist Mätte Widmer and drum genius Andi Isler - met while working for Karls kühne Gassenschau on the hit shows "AKUA" and "Silo 8". "We play around 100 shows a year with KKG," says Filby, "and its a fascinating job for musicians. Even so, we decided to form Pheromones as an additional outlet for our songwriting and performing talents." Following their impressive debut at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2005, the band have gone on to play unforgettable shows all around Switzerland, and have recently completed their first album "Infecticide". "We're really pleased with the way the record turned out" says Mätte Widmer. "It gives a good impression of the breadth and variety of our live shows, and the songs we chose have got some of the emotional depth and authenticity we are striving for." Pheromones are currently working on material for their next album, and will be playing selected live shows during winter and spring of 2007/8.
